Chargers Get Rematch With Black Hawk in Region IV Sectionals

After playing each other last week to decide the Arrowhead Conference title, the Carl Sandburg College and Black Hawk baseball teams will meet again this weekend in the postseason.
The Chargers earned the No. 4 seed in the Region IV tournament and will host the fifth-seeded Braves in a best-of-three sectional series that begins Saturday. The first two games will be played at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex. If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, also at Sandburg.
The winner advances to the Region IV finals, to be played May 18-20 at the highest remaining seed after this weekend’s sectionals.
The teams split four games in the regular season, including a doubleheader Tuesday in Galesburg that saw each team earn a victory to share the Arrowhead title with identical 16-4 conference records.
Sandburg, which has canceled its game scheduled for Tuesday evening at Southeastern (Iowa), enters the postseason with a 28-12 overall mark. Black Hawk is 33-15 overall.
